LIFX is a WiFi enabled, multi-color, energy efficient LED light bulb that you control with your iPhone or Android.
A genius kick-starter by Phil Bosua that can reshape our understanding of the light bulb, and teleport home automation to a whole new -much smarter and simpler- level. The Australian designer/ developer, currently based in San Francisco, California, reveals how stale and poor have the lighting industry developed the consumer lighting technology, putting in mind that a light bulb only sports 2 options – “On or Off” – since its invention .
With the rise of the smart phone age and all the things an individual can remotely control nowadays, something had to be done to further explore the potential of turning a conventional bulb into an intelligent one. A smart light bulb that works right out of the box, without any prior automation systems installed.

Bosua started his small company from his garage in Melbourne before expanding and moving to the Bay Area, where his dream project is taking solid steps towards becoming a reality. Fundraising for the project started a week ago and has already achieved its milestone; which clearly reflects the kind of back-up expected for such a smart approach. It will be funded on November 14 of this year, and Bosua promises to ship his supporters bulbs worth their donations; so you’d be actually pre-ordering the smartest bulb ever made! You can head over to the project’s website if you’d like to show this starter some deserved support!
