British boat designer Alex McDiarmid has recently unveiled his newest concept design of a Super Yacht. With Conchology (the study of shells) in mind, the outer body is inspired from the Turitella shell (tower screw) which is a long twirled seashell, he called it The Conch. The concept sports a multi-colored exterior paint job, the openings in the shell serves as the windows to the 4 levels of the yacht. The vessel is designed to sail at a top speed of 18 knots, and a cruising speed of 14 knots. The shells on the top of the boat serves as skylights, allowing light in…
Yes, it’s not a train and its not a bus, its a Super Bus. A high-speed, Eco-friendly, state of the art motor vehicle, designed for public transport, offering luxury and ease to business commuters and tourists. The electric-powered cross-over between a race bus and a limousine is being developed at the Delft University of Technology in Holland under the direction of Professor Wubbo Ockels, who in 1985 became the first Dutch citizen in space, part of the shuttle Challenger crew, and is designed by Antonia Terzi, an Italian aerodynamicist who has worked for the Ferrari and Williams Formula One teams. The Super bus has the length and width…
The Summer has arrived with all the heat it can offer, you gotta believe me on this one, living in Cairo, you can never under-estimate the HEAT we get here, pushing us all to go up north to our lovely breezy beaches on the coast of Alexandria – my hometown. During the sunny season, people starts their summer outdoor-furniture shopping. For the past week or so my wife and I were also on the hunt for the same exact thing, trying to land a couple of outdoors comfortable chairs for our beach place, and while searching online, I bumped into this magnificent piece…
The HOVER-BIKE, as crazy as that might sound, it’s a real thing now. A bike that can fly at altitudes up to 3048 meters (10000 feet) high, reaching a speed of 278.42 kilometers per hour (173 mph), it can even travel at higher altitudes, but then the rider would need to carry along an oxygen cylinder. It’s simply a dream of flying come true. Hover-Bike designer Chris Malloy -an Australian native- primarily designed it to serve purposes like aerial Cattle mustering, Search and Rescue, aerial survey, Wildlife and Parks, or Power-line inspection, not planned commercial use yet. Inhabitat quotes the inventions as: “Quieter and smaller than helicopters, and therefore…
In November 2010, the city of Makkah, KSA unveiled its newest and first elevated train spanning a distance of 18.1 km (11.2 miles). The project’s main aim is to help ease the transport process of pilgrims in the Hajj season between the holy sites of Makkah, Muzdalifa, Mount Arafat, and Mena. The rail is constructed parallel to the pedestrian road so that pilgrim tents in Mena are not disturbed. The entire train system, including stations, will be elevated…
An interesting creation coming from the heart of Massachusetts institute of technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA, USA. In the beginning of May 2011, a team lead by Sheila Kennedy, MIT Professor of the Practice of Architecture, presented to the Killian Court of MIT an outstanding project of a smart solar energy charging station – Soft Rocker (as it looks like an outdoor rocking lounge furniture). The idea of the leaf-like loop is to create the solar tracking system using its environment, it has a 12 ampere-hour battery and store solar energy harvested during the day. With a creation like this, outside gatherings…

The 1899: The original Coca-Cola bottle didn’t have anything in common with the one…
China completes construction of world’s fastest underwater railway tunnel The Construction of China’s first underwater railway tunnel has been recently completed in southern China, which allows trains to operate at the world’s top speed under the water. The project, or the Shiziyang Tunnel, crosses the Pearl River estuary in south China’s Guangdong Province with a length of 10.8 kilometers. It is designed for trains travelling at 350 kilometers per hour, the highest of all underwater tunnels worldwide. The 10.8-kilometers tunnel, which is also the country’s longest, is a key part of a 140-kilometer high-speed rail link that connects Guangzhou, the…
