Architectural Portraits by Francesco Paleari

Francesco Paleari, communication designer and photographer from Milan, Italy, created an extraordinary set of black and white portraits under the title Profili di Milano (Profiles of Milan). The series of manipulated images is a compilation of historical buildings and ordinary faces from Milan. Paleari’s great photo editing skills perfectly blend face features into architectural elements. The main idea of the project is to show the importance of both – people and architecture in the city life.

Picture of the Day: Venezia Evening

Argentinian amateur photographer Fede Álvarez based in Valencia, Spain snapped this heartwarming photograph of Venice, entitled “Venezia Evening”, on a warm summer night in August of 2012 from over the Rialto bridge – one of the four bridges  and the oldest of them spanning the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy. This is considered one of the famous views of Venice, the Rialto view. Roma In Miniatura by Andrea Dorliguzzo

These impressive aerial images of Rome, Italy by Andrea Dorliguzzo, are quite the decieving shots, that could be misinterepreted as a miniature model of the city. The illusion is achieved by an effect called tilt-shift using special tilt-lenses, other shooting techniques or can be done with the help of Photoshop. The miniature-like photographs are taken from a high angle to give the feeling of looking down at a small model.

Burano, Italy – The most colorful in Europe

Burano is a pretty island in the northern part of the lagoon of Venice, Italy  with a current population of about 2,800 inhabitants. It consists of four individual islands, which are separated by narrow, 10 meters wide, canals, rio Pontinello in the west, rio Zuecca in the south and rio Terranova in the east. Burano is famous for lace-making and for its brightly-colored fishermen’s houses; the island is a photographer’s paradise.
