Picture of the Day: The Dreamy Skyline of Singapore

This magnificent HDR skyline image was taken at Marina Bay in Singapore by photographer Matthew Brandalise of San Jose, California. Using 3 layered images with different exposure times, resulted in a dreamy and colorful night shot. “I was perched on the stairs next to Louis Vuitton store (previously featured here). I used a Nikon D4 with a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED lens. I used the Pedco UltraPod II Lightweight Camera Tripod to steady the camera. I shot in the evening at 7:30pm on a late fall evening. The Lion City – Singapore

Here’s a new video from an artist who manages to always push the art of time-lapse in new directions, Keith Loutit. Made using tilt-shift technology, he displays Singapore “The Lion City” like never before. The render technique is amazingly fresh, using a blur-focus wave on various depth to give each static scene a dynamic vibe. (music signed “Sepia Productions”).

Wanderlust Hotel in Little India, Singapore

The artistic Wanderlust hotel in Little India neighborhood, Singapore  has been created, to communicate with curious voyagers up for a boutique-like adventure. The hotel is the newest development of owner Loh Lik Peng, who gave four different award winning Singapore design firms each a floor to create their own interpretation of contemporary style and comfort. The building was originally an old school built it 1920s. The hotel houses 29 guest rooms with different design themes ranging from neon-glowing rooms to origami stencils, it also features a wide-open bar and lounge with as much wonder as the rooms themselves. Louis Vuitton Island Maison in Singapore

Famous French fashion house, Louis Vuitton, just opened their newest and fifth showroom in Singapore last week. The new store isn’t just a branch, its a complete glass island-building, designed by Safdie Architects as a part of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel development opened in April of last year. The Marina Bay Sands complex just couldn’t have enough to offer, despite the casinos, restaurants, 3-towers hotel, world’s largest sky park, and the infinity view roof-top pool it sports,  one of two glass-and-steel pavilions Safdie built at the edge of the bay was acquired by the fashion house, and turned into LV’s biggest showroom… Read more »

Marina Bay Sands Integrated Hotel with SkyPark – Singapore

A hotel with a roof garden? I don’t think so! In Singapore, Safdie Architects have completely changed the traditional meaning of a “roof garden” to evolutionary expectations.  The Boston-based internationally renowned design firm have created a masterpiece within its existence, The Marina bay Sands. 3 Hotel towers 55 stories each acting as the carriers of a 2.5 acres SkyPark that spans from one tower to the other and cantilevers 65 meters (213 feet) beyond the third tower (the largest roof garden in the world)!
